Several weeks ago Ben told us that there was going to be a film crew coming to make a movie on Diver Chris’s boat. There are at least 3 men named Chris around here so we have to differentiate them!
Chris lives in a town about an hour from here but from about Thursday-Sunday he and his healer dog, Hondo, live on his boat “Inchmore”here at the docks. Healers have my heart so I love anytime I get to pass Hondo on the dock or parking lot and give him some pets.
When Chris is here he has his own husbandry business diving boat and cleaning them. (Scraping growth around the outsides of the boat underwater.)
Some how a friend of his had part in the movie and that connection made it possible for his boat to be chosen in the filming of the movie “Tack.” Tack is a sailing term.
When the days came for the film crew to be here the parking lot would fill up, pop up tents with snacks and drinks for the cast and crew.
Of course, Ben knew about everyone and everything going on!!
Some of the film crew have been in this business quite a while and worked with big names like Disney. Others were students from SCAD: Savannah College of Arts & Design. By the last 2 of the 4 days we had gotten more comfortable seeing everyone in passing and started talking to some. Some of the girls and guys would play ball with Ben in the parking lot. There was another dog naked Hank, a very tall Great Dane pup that came with his owner and we all got to love on him. He was the brown and red color, I think those are so pretty. We definitely miss our dogs, among other pets!
The evening before the last day of filming I met Laura J Simmons. She is the write and producer of “Tack.” She worked on Zombie Land, Black Adam and Jungle Cruise to name a few. When speaking to her in the parking lot she share how this film is “kingdom work.” It has a message and a purpose; I can’t wait for it to come out!
Laura is just the sweetest gem of a person I was so happy to meet. She was absolutely so sweet to Ben, and encouraged him and built him up over the days they were here working. No one ever ran the kids off or blew them off, just a great group of people to be around. Hoping our paths cross again one day.
One time as Ben and I were talking to one of the writers at the tent he say the film posters and noticed that he is in the background of the film poster! The film crew knew it too. Ben had been on another boat behind them cleaning the tour boat and it’s just his head in the background but we all know it’s him! Laura also had asked if the kids could be in a scene of the movie fishing from the docks, which would have been very cool! Timing did not work out as they were already a few hours over time they had projected, but it was still an amazing offer.
The experience our kids and we are having is absolutely amazing, so much more than I ever could have expected. Even better has been the people we’re meeting and connecting with. God has really directed many paths and steps to put wonderful people in our lives.
