It's an old saying, but still holds true: "more is caught, than taught." Meaning, kids learn more from what they see than what someone intentionally teaches them.
I started my first mlm business when I was 19. I was bless that the first business opportunities presented to me was a perfect fit for me for many years. I worked with that company for 9 years. Many times I was top for sales and recruits in my unit, I loved working with other business women learning this business and loved all the wonderful people I met along the way as customers, hostesses and team members. I was all in, traveled out of state twice a year most of the years for corporate trainings and award nights, weekly team meetings, a few extras through out the year, fundraisers and more!
When Robert was born I had been in thise business a few years. When he was less than a year he traveled with my parents and myself to Dallas, Texas, for our annual corporate meeting. My mom was (and still is) with this company. So we made it a family event and road trip! #momprenuer
I continued to work my business after Ben was born. With two littles it became hard to balance work, my business, family and all of Jason's medical needs. I stepped down and slowed down for a bit, but without being fully in I decided it was best for my family, my costumers and myself to step down, so I closed that chapter of life.
I have had a few other businesses along the way I really enjoy working for myself with an established company and helping people and families find products that work best for their families.
Now onto our boys. We have made a very conscious effort to teach our boys the value of money, the importance of tithing and saving. So, to get to the point of this blog post and not a full on book-my boys are amazing interpreters! 😀 They have seen both myself, and Jason work from home, make things and selling them, or buying products and reselling. They understand how marketing works and the importance of having a product someone wants and that is high quality and worth the buyers money. Big lessons for small boys! #boymom #lifelesson
Our boys have loved doing lemonade stands over the years. One year Jason built them a really cool stand from wood and painted "Lemonade Stand" on it. They were all in!
This year the lemonade stands have hit an all new level. Our 8 year old set up his lemonade stand at the end of our dirt driveway. He also had a few boards set up as a table to display some of his obsidian collection. Our 5 year old was there to dance around with the sign as cars drove by. Their first customer was on a motorcycle. He bought a class of lemonade, and rocks! A neighbor came by to buy a rock for her rock garden. A traveler stopped and bought a full gallon of lemonade for $20, a couple of rocks, and at this point AJ had decided he needed something to sell too. Unbeknownst to me, he was selling "spikey flowers." The traveler bought one of those as well @$2. AJ was so excited he came running up the driveway to tell me he sold "spikey flowers!" At the beginning of April in Wyoming we sure don't have any wildflowers growing at our house. Upon further interrogation I realized that AJ was selling dead sunflowers 🌻 from last season that he plucked from our ditch.....creative. When you're cute and 5 you can sell just about anything! Ben, AJ, Robert & his friend brought in over $70 that afternoon!
The next day Robert and AJ set up at Grandma's house in town and made $80 in just a couple of hours! Ben set up at our house again on a rather windy day and made about $12. All pretty good when you're 5-11 years old!
This are the days I want to remember; their ideas, work ethic, creativity and teamwork! I often hear my littles telling each other when they need a hand "teamwork makes the dream work!" ❤️
